Tech Lyfeians!!! We have a new product that you should check out and purchase, The product is what you ask, it is as the company says the “World’s First Completely Open Source DNFC Tag.” ElecFreaks a DIY tech company based in Shenzhen, China, has debuted their device on indegogo and within 10 days reached their goal to mass produce the device. What is the DNFC tag and what does it do? It is an open source tag (with the ability to do what you dream up) that allows you to connect to a Micro Control Unit (MCU) to read and write date.
Since we know NFC tags are reprogrammable, reprogramming them requires an NFC controller, by way of a dedicated hardware, a phone, or an Arduino shield. The DNFC tag is reprogrammable with a microcontroller with an I2C interface Regardless the tag still does everything you would expect from a NFC tag. NDEF reading and writing can be programed through an Arduino, Pi, or any other board with an I2C interface.
Although you can pretty much program what you would like with the tag, Elecfreaks themselves have a examples that include putting WiFi credentials on an Arduino board without putting the SSID in code. This definitely a useful device, but with my scope of knowledge it is way past over my head. That is where you come in! What can we use this device for? Let us know in the comments below.
Elecfreaks is only 10 days in and have already met their funding goal on indiegogo for the DNFC. To produce tons more and future great devices pick one up, it is only $13( with shipping) for one. In which Tech Lyfe has ordered! Stay tuned next month to see our review, and hopefully we have some great uses from you to implement!
