We’ve all heard about the threats our social media profiles pose to our professional careers and we’ve seen countless tales of the fall of many because of a single picture, post, or comment. At times it seems as if you can’t post anything that could be used as slanderous evidence in your case, however, to ease your worried minds, Social Sweepster has stepped up to the plate to be the judge for you.
You can use the site’s services now by “invitation only,” but what that really means is signing up for an account and waiting for the site to notify you that it’s ready to run your profiles. What the site is looking for when it runs through your Facebook and Twitter accounts depends on who you want it to screen for- family, work, etc. but what it is mostly looking for is anything with “incriminating potential” such as beer bottles, red cups, any other party paraphernalia, and “potty words.” Using an algorithm specifically created for the site and you can tell the site how far back you’d like for it to search through your records.
Once your profiles have been scanned, you will receive and email that notifies you on everything the site found ranked in order of confidence, that meaning how sure the site is that the post is actually objectionable and to what level. You can filter results based on text or photos only and you’ll have the option I delete tweets directly, while you’ll have to actually visit Facebook to delete any other posts from the site.
Social Sweepster is only sending out invites to the first 10,000 applicants for now, and while the fee for using the site is still undetermined-so therefore, still free for now- we can expect to see charges varying depending on how many posts you want the site to scan and how quickly the results are needed. But for the cost of your future, it can’t hurt to try and clean up your profiles until they are squeaky clean so you are not surprised by a post years in the future after it has been buried deep in your accounts.
