Nokia’s rumored Lumia 1520 phablet is expected to launch later this month running an updated version of Windows Phone 8 on a 6-inch 1080p display. Now, mobile leaker Evleaks is back with a bit more info, this time revealing the device will pack a 20-megapixel PureView camera. There’s no question that’s a powerful lens, but it may be a disappointment for those who hoped the handset would come with the same 41-megapixel shooter introduced with the Lumia 1020. Last week, The Verge published a huge gallery of photos showing off the Lumia 1520 from pretty much every angle and placed next to the 5-inch Xperia Z1 for a size comparison. Yesterday, Evleaks also bluntly announced that Nokia’s phablet will launch on Sept. 26. Considering that the necessary GDR3 update to Windows Phone 8 isn’t expected until Oct., it makes sense that Nokia would announce the new smartphone several weeks in advance so the physical release can line up with the OS update.
Enough FUD: Bandit has a 20MP PureView camera.
With Nokia’s mobile division sold off to Microsoft, the Bandit may be among the final Lumia-branded devices we ever see.
