Dish AutoHop is a specific television provider package through Dish Network that works similar to a DVR. The AutoHop allows you to skip through commercials. What separates AutoHop from the rest is that no actual act fast-forwarding needs to take place, the viewer can put down the controller and the network automatically skips over the ads.
The experience is similar to watching a program on Netflix, avoiding advertisements completely, but the viewer no longer has to wait months for episodes of their favorite shows to be streamed on Netflix, they can watch them the night they air.
Currently AutoHop is partnered with primetime television stations such as ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. With Dish’s recent deal with Disney Channel, who has long been hesitant to jump on board, viewers are now allowed to air shows with the feature three days after the actual premier date without ads, as to appeal still to Disney’s advertisers that depend on three-day audience ratings.
